The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) exists to promote and recognize high standards of scholarship in California schools.
Membership is based on academic qualifications. Membership is held during the semester following when the qualifying grades were earned and is for one semester only. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements. To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn sufficient points from pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from University of California accepted course work. The CSF Application Form (coming soon for the next session!) and course lists are self-explanatory on what courses are used and the limit of classes you can use in order to qualify. (Please note the World Studies I is included in List III classes.)
Life Membership is achieved by qualifying for at least four or more semesters in the last three years of high school. One semester must be during the senior year. 100% Membership is achieved by qualifying for six semesters in the last three years of high school.
Benefits of membership include the right to list CSF on college and scholarship applications, recognition at M-A Senior Awards Night and on the M-A Graduation Program. Members will receive a CSF certificate, and a tassel plus a gold cord for graduation day.
Members also are eligible for small scholarships from the M-A PTA and the CSF organization. Because of this financial benefit, we encourage freshmen to participate early and get in the habit of doing their applications each semester they are eligible.
The next CSF Week for school year 2019-20 will be in February 2020, when we will be collecting forms for the Fall Semester 2019-20 grades.
Who can apply? Sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet the qualifications.
Applications will be handed out in English classes the week prior to CSF sign-ups and available at the CSF tables. Applications will be accepted during lunch all week in front of the Library. Late applications will not be accepted.
The submitted application packet must include:
- A completed CSF Application Form (coming soon for the next session!)
- $5.00 application fee in cash or check made payable to M-A HS.
- A copy of the previous semester’s report card or transcript.
- A copy of your transcript can now be copied through your student’s Portal account, aka Infinite Campus: http://portal.seq.org.
DO NOT GO TO THE GUIDANCE OFFICE FOR YOUR TRANSCRIPT.
