There are many different ways you can volunteer to help with the M-A PTA.  We have the following Committee Chair roles.

ADMIN/VOLUNTEER SUPPORT COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS
The 2 co-chairs for this committee recruit volunteers to staff all administrative events as requested by M-A administrators and/or PTA Committee chairs.  

  • 1-year commitment
  • Events that need volunteers include:
    • Arena Check-In (before school starts)
    • AP Sign-ups and Test Proctoring
    • Most M-A Staff Appreciation Events
    • Parent Education events  (throughout the school year)

CA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION (CSF) CHAIR
The chair for this committee is responsible for coordinating and communicating aspects of the CSF application process at MA.

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Determining and communicating fall and spring dates for applications
    • Ensuring the PTA website is updated with new dates, forms, and course lists
    • Communicating deadlines for applications to students
    • Requesting volunteers to help with application submission at relevant dates

CHALLENGE DAY COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS
The 2 co-chairs split responsibilities over a two-year term.   

  • 2-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Liaising with Challange Day organization and school administration on dates, contract etc.
    • Recruiting volunteers to help during Challenge Day and communicating their individual roles
    • Working with MA Facilities team, Custodians etc to ensure smooth execution of each of the 3 Challange Day events (over 3 consecutive school days)
    • Organizing lunch for each day

DISPLAY CASE/HONOR DOLL DISPLAY COMMITTEE CHAIR
The display case/honor roll display chair is responsible for keeping Pride Hall display cases up-to-date through the school year

  • Duties include:
    • Updating display case with PTA information
    • Updating Honor Roll display case

GRAD NIGHT COMMITTEE CHAIR
The grad night chair is responsible for organizing all aspects of grad night, a surprise, fun evening for seniors after the graduation ceremony. 

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Within the budget, select the venue(s), organize contracts, food, insurance etc.
    • Organize transportation for the event
    • Organize fundraising for the event
    • Work with Admin/Volunteer Support Chairs to get volunteers for chaperoning and check-in
    • Liaise with PTA Webmaster and BearNotes team to update the website/BearNotes with relevant information

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIR/CO-CHAIRS
The Membership Chair or co-Chairs plan the PTA membership drive.

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Manage and track donations
    • Plan the membership drive
    • Work at arena check-ins to encourage donations

MINI-GRANT CHAIR
The chair for this committee is responsible for coordinating and communicating aspects of the Mini-Grant application process at MA.

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Determining and communicating fall and spring dates for applications
    • Ensuring the PTA website is updated with new dates and forms
    • Communicating deadlines for applications to teachers/staff
    • Communicating with M-A Administration to determine recipients
    • Communicating with recipients through the reimbursement process

SENIOR BREAKFAST CHAIR
The chair for this committee is responsible for coordinating and communicating aspects of the Senior Breakfast, a tradition for Graduating Seniors. Held just before graduation practice on one of the last days of school, the breakfast is a special event for graduates as they celebrate four years of hard work.

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Work with MA Admin and Facilities to confirm location, timing etc.
    • Determine menu, requirements for serving supplies, tables etc.
    • Work with Admin/Volunteer Support Chairs to get volunteers for food, set-up, serving and cleanup
    • Liaise with PTA Webmaster and BearNotes team to update the website/BearNotes to sign-up volunteers for the event

STAFF APPRECIATION CO-CHAIRS
The chairs for this committee are responsible for coordinating and communicating one of the events planned through the year for Staff Appreciation.   

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Work with MA Admin and Facilities to confirm location, timing etc.
    • Determine menu, requirements for serving supplies, tables etc.
    • Work with Admin/Volunteer Support Chairs to get volunteers for food, set-up, serving and cleanup
    • Liaise with PTA Webmaster and BearNotes team to update the website/BearNotes to sign-up volunteers for the event
  • Events are as follows – with the month they generally take place:
    • Back to School Coffee Cart: August
    • Coffee Cart: October
    • Holiday Brunch: December
    • January Coffee Cart: January
    • Valentine’s Treats: February
    • Open House Food: March
    • Night Custodian Dinner: April

    • Volunteer Luncheon: May

WEBMASTER
The Webmaster is responsible for keeping the PTA website content up-to-date and relevant.  Ideally, the person in this role will have WordPress experience and can update the PTA website directly.  But it is also possible to do this role without that experience and instead liaise with our third-party hosting company to send relevant updates to them throughout the year.

  • 1-year commitment
  • Duties include:
    • Update the PTA website content at the start of the school year with new event dates, new committee chairs etc.
    • Update PTA membership pages with new membership forms etc.
    • Work with third-party hosting company to update email aliases for committee chairs at the start of the school year
    • Through the year, update the PTA website with new event details, remove completed events.
