Student Programs: California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) exists to promote and recognize high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship on the part of students in California schools.

Membership is based on scholarship and citizenship only. Membership is held during the semester following when the qualifying grades were earned and is for one semester only. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements. To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn sufficient points from pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from University of California accepted course work.

Life Membership is achieved by qualifying for at least four or more semesters in the last three years of high school. One semester must be during the senior year.

100% Membership is achieved by qualifying for six semesters in the last three years of high school.

Benefits of membership include preference in admission at many California colleges, the right to list CSF on college and scholarship applications, and recognition at awards night and graduation. Members will receive a CSF certificate, and a tassel and gold cord for graduation day. Members are also are eligible for small scholarships from the M-A PTA and the CSF organization.

Applications will be handed out in English classes the week prior to CSF sign-ups and will list the qualifying classes and explain the point system.

The submitted application packet must include:

  • A completed CSF application.
  • $3.00 application fee in cash or a check made payable to M-A HS.
  • A copy of the previous semester's report card or transcript.
    • If needed, copies of the transcript can be obtained for an additional $1.00; please see a parent at the sign-up table.
    • DO NOT GO TO THE GUIDANCE OFFICE FOR YOUR TRANSCRIPT.
    • Because transcripts or report cards downloaded from Communicado are not official documents, they are not acceptable for CSF applications.
